Introduction

What is Digital Marketing?

In simple words, marketing at digital platforms i.e. via internet is what we call digital marketing. However, there are significant differences between traditional and digital marketing. For diving deep into the concept of digital marketing, I need to develop a completely new blog post. For now, just keep the concept and scroll down.

What is Digital Marketing Strategy?

Obviously, for digital platforms, you need to develop strategies based on the art and science of digital platforms, which we call digital marketing strategies.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are two different things, although both are linked with the same platform i.e. Search Engines. So, let’s first understand what search engines are.

What are search engines?

Search Engines are those platforms on internet where people find the answers of their queries. Usually Search Engines are a huge database of web pages made by people for the people such as Google, Bing, Baidu etc., but now the concept of search engine is getting more general, meaning that wherever people can ask questions and get answers are usually called search engines. Such as Facebook has its own search engine where people search for people, pages, groups, similarly Twitter Instagram have their own etc.

However, these are not usually called search engines as because their sole purpose is not the same as that of standard search engines like Google and Bing etc.

What is Search Engine Marketing?

SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is the paid approach on search engines to boost your or your client’s content. It is similar to the purpose of advertising in traditional marketing but obviously with different tactics.

Lead Generation

Lead generation means increasing potential customers who will possibly buy from us. Through SEM, it is very easy. The is reason is that your advertisement is shown to your future customer at the exact time when he/she is actually looking for it.

For example, you have recently opened a restaurant and few people know about your business, but through search engine marketing, you have advertised your restaurant using the keywords which people usually search such as best restaurant in my town/city. There are good chances that this person is going to visit your restaurant just because he/she found your restaurant name in the search engine results.

Easy and Quick to get found on search engines

Whenever a website is developed and made public on internet for search engines, it takes time to appear in search results of any search engine.

Also, search engine optimization efforts take time to boost the website in search results because search engines need to build trust in you. In such a situation, SEM helps to get the website found in search engines. Basically, you advertise your website with targeted keywords, so that whenever people search that keyword, your site shows up in the search results.

High Resemblance with Search Intent

Search intent means the ultimate purpose of the person making a search i.e. whether he/she wants a solution of a problem, wants to buy something or just want to educate himself/herself. With SEM, this purpose is greatly served.

For example, you have advertised your site with a keyword, best mobile to purchase with low price and your site appears in search results and the person visits your site and makes a purchase, you have greatly matched the search intent i.e. buying a phone.

SEO is using the standard guidelines provided by search engines to create content which is as much satisfying and useful as possible and desired by the users. In SEO, we use 200+ factors to boost the visibility of our sites with an aim to appear in the top results of search engine results pages.

Means of Organic Traffic

Organic traffic means people naturally coming to your site without any advertisement or referral. That is possible only if your site is optimized for search engines. Search engine optimization helps us do that optimization.

Through SEO tactics, we create content which gets the highest place in search engines, through which we get organic traffic.

Helps in Authority and Trust Building

If we talk about the human Psyche, it greatly relies on authority and trust whenever it encounters a new thing, and with the increasing use of search engines, it shifted its evaluation of anything from real authoritative persons to the most popular search engines such as Google.

Let me explain, if an unknown person approaches you and says that he is the part of a team who sells books with online orders from customers and asks for your favor, traditionally you would have asked some authoritative person who may know this person, but now you would probably open your phone and make a search about the name of the that team which the other person claims to belong, and if the website appears in the search results, you would probably do him/her a favor.

The point is not to mention that if website appears in search results, that means it is verified and not risky for you to act, but to  mention that it is human psyche now, because otherwise, there are scores of malicious web pages on internet.

Means of Earning

If your site is such that you can display advertisements on your site, SEO is best to help you out. As in SEO, we try our level best to fulfill both search engines’ requirements and that of customers’, so that our website gets on the first place in search results whenever someone makes a search with a keyword which we have used in our posts. In this way, we get more traffic and with more traffic comes more clicks, and with more clicks comes more dollars.
